The Power of Plants This award winning Dementia Garden was designed by Lynch Robertson, who are nationally renowned for their work in the retirement and care sectors. The aim here was to provide the residents with a relaxing, secure, comfortable and stimulating outdoor space. Gardens are to be enjoyed at all stages of life but particularly so in later years. The simple things like walking in spring sunshine, the fragrance from a delicate bloom, or just having a peaceful place to be alone with your thoughts, brings joy and a sense of well being. As a courtyard an attractive view was required from each of the flats situated along the perimeter of the garden. The focal point in this scheme is the serene fish pond, complimented with Japanese style pagoda and beautiful Hornbeam Tree. We provided plenty of seating complete with shade, a clear non slip pathway, and added a paved terrace. The quirky bus shelter with seating helps residents to stimulate memories and means they can enjoy the garden whatever the weather. We built a greenhouse and raised beds to encourage the residents to roll up their sleeves and get involved. Currently, courtesy of the gardening club, on the menu are home grown tomatoes, peas, and courgettes. special features Ornamental Fish pond Raised beds and Greenhouse Clear easy to follow pathways Safe and secure Quirky wooden bus shelter view more photographs
